A backdraft damper for vertical installation, also known as a vertical duct silencer, is mounted to prevent air from flowing in the opposite direction through the ventilation system when the axial fan is not in operation. Since the dampers only open when air flows from the fan to the duct, and they close when air threatens to flow the other way, you ensure that your ventilation system always functions properly.
By installing a backdraft damper, you prevent contaminated air from having the chance to flow back into your ventilated space from your ventilation system. Installing a backdraft damper is very important in applications where heavily polluted air is being expelled, where it is essential that this air does not flow back. The fire-safe version of the backdraft damper continues to function even for a long time at high temperatures. Due to the coated steel, the dampers are also suitable for outdoor use.
Both variants of vertical backdraft dampers that you find at Ventilationland are from the brand Ruck, and are therefore also used together with Ruck axial fans and accessories.
These backdraft dampers are available in the following sizes (mm):
These vertical backdraft dampers meet the fire safety standard F400 and can withstand temperatures of 400 degrees for up to 2 hours. This is very important in the event of a fire, where the ventilation system contributes to the removal of heat and smoke (RWA). These dampers are available in the following sizes (mm):
A backdraft damper for vertical installation, or a vertical backdraft damper, is placed in a vertical duct. The backdraft damper is positioned just behind the axial fan, allowing only the air between the fan and the damper to flow back, which is negligible. The backdraft damper has flanges at both ends that allow it to be connected to other components or the fan with bolts and nuts.
